“Yeah, it’s pretty nice, up there.”
Obeying Argent’s suggestion, Isaiah moved to the side, placing the pot just atop the counter, with a little light sigh. Turned to face the counter, however, the heatster took a moment to look away from his companion. She was used to it. That made Hotspot feel kind of bad. It was like he could never keep a promise- and, to all people he could break promises to, the girl he saw dearest in his eyes.

A sudden, bright white light surrounded the boy, blindingly, for only a split second before disappearing, and revealing the lesser-common mocha skin Isaiah preferred not to reveal. He turned back to face her, and smiled warmly, moving to sit just beside where she patted with one hand.

“….I still can’t get used to the Titans communicator. I keep forgetting I have it.”

Argent curled her legs up to meet her chest as she watched him, ruby eyes wide in a little shock he actually powered down. She hadn’t seen that in.. too long it seemed like.

She smiled when he turned around and sat next to her, it was nice for her to know that he trusted her still, even after all their time apart.

“It’s not a big deal,” She shrugged, leaning her head on his shoulder, wrapping her silver arms around her knees. “I forget I have mine too.” Her smile faded as she looked at his gift to her, sitting in front of them.

“Was it Rabut you got this thing? How was home anyways? You’ve been gone for awhile, you must have not wanted to leave since you’ve been gone so long.”

His heart fluttered at the warmth on his shoulder. Eyes closing part-way, Hotspot’s expression softened, and he wrapped an arm around Toni’s shoulders. They’d been close friends, he and Arge. Even after joining the Titans, and not having nearly as much contact as they’d used to- the Natall connection that they shared strengthened their bond, of course- they seemed to seek refuge and support in eachother, and could still just relax and have a good time doing nothing in specific.

“Yeah- they grow on vines along walls everywhere.” He nodded towards the flower. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen ‘em in Jump or anything, so I don’t know how long they’ll last, but I thought you might like ‘em.”

Addressing his Moroccan home, however, Isaiah felt his smile widen, if just a tinge. “Yeah- it was nice to visit home again. I was actually called back out to defend the city, once again- I’m a Titan in two quadrants. One with the Titans, one back saving Almahgrib. They don’t have heroes like the Titans, and the police forces don’t quite know how to take on supervillains like Monsieur Mallah or Punk Rocket.” Shifting a bit in his seat, he straightened up. “And it’s true, I didn’t want to go back, at first- but when I had to stay there an extra few weeks, I honestly just wanted to return home in Jump. It was nice visiting old friends, but I couldn’t help missing the new team.”

As she rambled about him being gone, Isaiah felt his grin widening into something less sheepish, and more snarky. She wasn’t mad. Actually, she seemed to have grown rather used to his erratic travels.

Nodding thankfully as he accepted her invite inside, Hotspot stepped forward, snickering at her question.
“Me? Gardening? Sorry, too busy kicking bad-guy butt to garden, Arge.” He chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of his neck while holding up the potted flower. “Actually, came to apologize for not calling; brought back a souvenir from Rabut, back home.” Nodding once, Isaiah took a step backwards, allowing Argent to follow him back through her house.

She followed, eyes dodging between him and the pot between the boys arm. She let her smile fade as she sat down on her couch, taking up the blanket in her arms and letting it flow on her legs.

“Rabut? Very fancy~” She giggled, “You can set it on the table, and set yourself right here.” She smiled, a silver hand patting the spot next to her before putting her hand under her leg and the blanket to keep her hands warm.

“No need to apologize ‘Zaiah. I’m used to it.”

“Yeah, it’s pretty nice, up there.”

Having been staring down at his feet in front of him, Hot Spot jumped a little as the door was opened. Blinking a few times in surprise, he settled back down (after flickering a bit brighter of a glow), and smiled warmly at the girl. The alien connection seemed to give a little ‘click!’ right in his chest, and he felt her ease; leaning back on one heel, he grew calmer himself, the light surrounding him dimming a bit.

“….’Ey there, Arge. It has been, huh?”

…Great. Now what was he supposed to say? ‘Yeah, I left without notice for almost a month without any contact back home again. Sorry to leave you hanging after I told you that I wouldn’t do that again.

Isaiah sighed. “…And I feel bad about it; I do mean to keep in touch with you. I just don’t seem to be the brightest match in the box, as of late—” His smile grew into a sheepish grin, shifting the flowerpot between arms.

“Isn’t it always ‘been awhile’ with us?” The light he illuminated around them was felt on her skin, which was nice, but for some reason caused goosebumps up on her arms and chest.

Oh, wait she was supposed to be upset right?

Instead, she just, giggled. Being around Lily taught her patience. Having Robin, Umbra, and Speedy either gone or in and out was a usual. Argent smiled up at him, shaking her head as she rambled about being gone. Deep down it did upset her, but what was she going to do? She can’t change Isaiah, he’d never been one to stay in one place that wasn’t Morocco for long, and she knew that.

She narrowed her eyes with a playful smile still on her lips, and moved herself out of the doorway motioning for him to come in, ruby eyes locked on the flower pot. “So, are you gardening or…” Argent giggled again, another shake of her head.

Isaiah didn’t know how to say ‘sorry’.

Of course, it was just two syllables that rolled off the tongue, while facing the person whom you felt bad for hurting.

It’d been a whole month since he’d so much as called her. They were best friends, and he promised to stay in touch. The three-week trip back to Rabat and Casablanca in Morocco had taken longer than the two days he’d intended; he hoped the Titans hadn’t gotten in trouble, and hadn’t had the ability to access him. Two days of controlling crime once again, back home, morphed into three weeks after a particularly notorious gang of thieves had begun taking control over the village- but it wasn’t anything Hotspot couldn’t handle.

Unfortunately, he also hadn’t mentioned his leave, assuming that he’d be home again in only a few days.

Inhaling slowly through his nose as he stood in front of the familiar apartment door, the heatster closed his eyes, and knocked four times, a small clay pot brimming over with a vibrant orange plant nestled in the crook of his elbow.

A knock?

Hm, that was different for her. Argent was so used to everyone just knocking, and coming in.

She unfolded her legs from her position of being curled on her couch, and sprawled her blanket over to the other side of the couch before getting up and walking towards the door until— “Ouch!”

Her foot kicked a hard plastic toy of her little girl Lily’s on the ground. Her face cringed in a mixture of pain and irritation while Toni’s breath was held. When she finally let out her air in a light gasp, she’d realized that whoever was at the door had been waiting for too long.

“Uh— Hold on mate, hold on.” She slide her foot to move the toy, and ran her silver fingers through her hair fixing it. A hand held out to the door, and as Argent twisted the handle that’s when her Natall link kicked on, and she felt the connection in her gut to her heart.

She opened the door all the way to find exactly what she knew was there, “Isaiah Crockett.” She shook her head, smile on her lips spreading out to become wide and happy, and her shoulder leaned against the door.

“Been awhile, Hot Spot.”

Having been staring down at his feet in front of him, Hot Spot jumped a little as the door was opened. Blinking a few times in surprise, he settled back down (after flickering a bit brighter of a glow), and smiled warmly at the girl. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?

((fjlskdjkfl I’ve had this one in my askbox since I made the account.

And ever since, my muse keeps mentioning a basketball that he’s really really attached to. He’s never really told me why— but yeah. Just a worn-down basketball. c:> <3 ))

Humming happily at the gentle pat, Hotspot couldn’t help but just glow with warmth- literally and metaphorically. Argent always knew how to make him smile, no matter the occasion. Even mid-day, in a sometimes-boring city, walking along the arid roads to go look at some cool water shows.

“We’re not too far from the park-” he stated idly, motioning with one arm to a sign saying ‘Fountain Park: 400 meters’. As much as he disliked water, in general, Isaiah did enjoy viewing the fountains from a small distance, and knew that Argent would be impressed by the sights.

“Close? Oh—” She glanced over to the sign, giggling and nodding at it. “So for someone who is well… you, How’d you find this place? It’s just, not your style.” She smiled wider, looking up to him,

The only word she could describe about him was glowing.

“Little surprised about this to be honest.” Flicked her eyes forward, they widened at sites around her. “Are you going to power down for this? Or are we keeping a large distance between the two of us and the water?”

“I found it when I made it into Jump, actually.” The boy explained with a sheepish smile, attempting to maintain a calm, not-too-excited demeanor. “The bus stopped at the casino past here, and we drove by the fountains. It was neat.”

At the mention of him powering down, Hotspot’s instinctive reaction was to snap back with an, ‘I don’t power down’- but no, he wouldn’t say that to Argent. Plus, he would power down, around her—

“N’ maybe, if you’re feelin’ lucky.” His grinned widened into a teasing smirk, and he bopped her on the nose with a wink.

@Redplasma- cont.

It’s indescribable for her. No, it was like she said before, it was like a dream. Nothing came close to the connection she had with him, and she knew that. Argent had close friends, no doubt, but he’d always been that one step closer.

She closed her eyes for the nuzzle, lips still curled into that small smile, and a light giggle too. Once he was done, she’d open to her eyes, just looking. She didn’t know what to say, really. There was a few things going on around them, the kids running around, people who’d always walked passed them, staring at the sight of the two half aliens, but it really didn’t matter to her. Argent couldn’t tell if her heart was beating fast, or slow because of the boy, so to break their silence, she slide a hand up to his neck and patted it before sliding out if his grip, motioning towards the direction they’d been walking. She kept one arm clasped in his,

“Come on, I wanna see this water park you’ve been going on about.”
